A wetroom is the new choice for bathroom upgrades!
If you are considering converting a bathroom or other room in your house into a wet room, the friendly and experienced Sigma team will be happy to work with you to plan an efficient use of the space.

A wetroom is a completely waterproof bathroom with a ‘walk-in’ shower space. The walk-in shower area is often level with rest of the bathroom floor. The shower drain is placed into a slightly sloped floor instead of the conventional shower tray.
Design
Wet rooms look stylish and modern, and can add real value to your home.
They are architectural, conceptual, and give a wonderful sense of space and open-plan living. Wet rooms are ideal for both large and small spaces; windowless box rooms, downstairs loos, basements or part of a large bedroom – all you need is an open-plan room with a shower, basin and loo and you can really add the wow factor to your property.
Glass Screens
Wet room glass screens help to create the ultimate in walk-in showers, giving the bathroom a contemporary look. Glass panels are great for protecting the sanitary ware from water spray.
Walls and Floors
Walls and floors can be tiled with modern stone or mosaic tiles.
The wet room’s floor needs to be stable and well fixed (it can be a concrete or timber floor); both walls and floor need to be waterproofed (tanked) to ensure full protection against leaks. If you are looking for level access showering, the shower drain needs to be installed completely into your floor. In some houses this is not possible, because you may not have enough space beneath the actual floor; wooden joists are not deep enough, but Sigma Wet Room Fitters can offer alternative wet room designs and ideas.
Heating Under-floor heating is one of the most appropriate heating solutions for wet rooms. It provides a warm underfoot surface and it can be controlled independently from the rest of the heating system.
Ventilation
To avoid having a steamy wet room, adequate ventilation will be required.
Lighting
If you do not have a window in the washroom it’s worth considering installing a ‘sun pipe’ that brings natural light into the wet room. Also, mirrors open up the space and reflect light, making the wet room appear bigger and brighter.
Shower
A quality shower head with high water pressure will be essential for your wet room.
If water pressure is low, you may need to install a pump – please remember that ‘combi-boiler’ systems are not compatible with pumps.
Speakers
A wet room is a perfect place to install speakers; whether you are looking to soak for an hour with your favourite music or catch up with the latest news. Ceiling speakers for wet rooms need to be resilient to high humidity levels. There’s nothing more pleasant than using a well designed wet room.
We design and install wet rooms using the latest technology and best quality materials, to ensure you the best shower experience from day-one after installation. If you are planning to install a wet room, please give us a call for expert advice.
