Bathroom in the Basement  

For people who may own an older home that has a basement, they have considered adding a Bathroom in the Basement, particularly if the basement is refinished and has been turned into a game room, living area, or bedroom for other relatives.  There are several benefits to adding a basement bathroom since it’s certainly far more convenient, but also adds to the value of the house when it comes time to sell it.  If there’s only one bathroom in the upstairs part of the house, well everyone in the house (in addition to guests visiting) appreciate not having to stand in line waiting at the one bathroom. 

Things to Consider  

Since basements are generally very damp and dark, installing the bathroom here adds to the dampness, so a dehumidifier may be one of the first considerations and probably needs to be added as well.
